The communities surrounding Virginia's capital include our own Charles City, Hopewell, and Petersburg. We at ACROSSTHEBOARD see a critical gap. While potential shines brightly in our youth, the pathways to realizing that potential aren't always clear or accessible. We see talented youth who lack positive role models to guide them, miss out on the vital lessons of teamwork and discipline that engaging athletic programs can offer, and whose horizons are limited by a lack of connection and collaboration within their communities. 

We've witnessed firsthand the isolation that can stifle a young person's growth, the untapped skills that lie dormant without the structure of mentorship, and the missed opportunities when organizations work in isolation rather than in collaboration. ACROSSTHEBOARD was born from a deep-seated belief that zip codes shouldn't dictate destinies. We feel the urgency to bridge these gaps and actively create pathways to success by providing the consistent support of mentors, providing the character-building experiences of athletics, and expanding the possibilities that come from community collaboration. We believe that by investing in these crucial opportunities, we're not just helping individual young people but strengthening the fabric of our surrounding cities and building a more vibrant future for all.
